But along with that popular adaptation of Hannah's 2013 novel of the same name, the 65-year-old writer has plenty more titles in her stacked bookshelf — a staggering 25 tomes, in fact, across a three-decade career, topping bestseller lists like The New York Times and Publishers Weekly and being spotlighted in big-name book clubs. (Fun fact: Prior to kicking off her life as a full-time author with her first book, 1991's A Handful of Heaven, Hannah was an attorney in Seattle.)
It's cinematic stuff, so it isn't much of a surprise that Hollywood is knocking on the author's door for page-to-screen adaptations, with filmed versions of The Nightingale, The Women and more already in the works. Here’s a look at every Kristin Hannah adaptation currently in production (or at least announced).

Additionally, The Great Alone — Hannah's semiautobiographical 2018 novel about the Albright family, who move off-grid to the Alaskan wilderness in the wake of the Vietnam War in the hopes of a new beginning — has also been scooped up by TriStar for an upcoming film adaptation, though no casting announcements or production starts have been made as of press time.
“Like The Nightingale, it’s a story about the strength of women and survival and the choices that define a life,” she told the outlet. “Set in remote Alaska in the 1970s, it reveals the harsh, cruel beauty of the Last Frontier and the fiercely independent men and women who live there. It’s a world I’ve never seen on screen, and it’s surprisingly relevant in today’s turbulent, unsettled world.”
