The Playground opened Aug. 29, 2016, in the Greeley Mall. Many kids have since gone to celebrate birthdays, holidays and plenty of weekends. Owner Maribel Molina recently spoke with the Greeley Tribune about the memories herself and others have made at the indoor playground.
How did The Playground get its start?
The Playground got its start 10 years ago. My husband and I were always in need of ways to keep our son entertained. We just couldn’t find a place locally that was affordable. I wanted a fun place where kids could play all year round where parents didn’t have to worry about the weather. Somewhere kids weren’t locked into electronic devices and can get the energy out so they take a nice nap or get a good night’s sleep.
What does The Playground do, and what sets your business apart from the rest?
The Playground provides a fun environment for kids up to 9 years old to have fun. We host birthday parties, monthly events according to the month or holiday and unlimited fun. People can come and play for $10, and it’s an all-day admission with unlimited reentries. What sets us apart is that we are locally owned and family oriented. My husband and I are very hands-on owners. We are there all the time. And I feel that our customers notice that.

Being able to celebrate 10 years in business this August was very significant. Because we survived the pandemic and the ups and downs in the economy. I actually went to the bank and the teller that helped me asked, ‘Are you from the Playground? I had my eighth birthday there!’ It made me so happy. Just that kids remember and it was a good memory for her. … We’re so grateful that our community has allowed us to still be in business and provide that fun place our community needs.
What drives your success?
I believe our success is driven by the passion we have to play and spend time with our children as a family. My little one is 8 years old. She still loves The Playground and we go there as customers. And we want to make sure the community gets to experience the same thing. We’re here to make sure that our community has the opportunity to create fun memories with our children. They’re only little for so long, and we need to take advantage of those sweet years as families.
What are your goals for the future?
Keep providing a fun and affordable space for children. I want The Playground to go down in Greeley’s history as the place where kids celebrated their birthday. Or where they met their friends on Friday nights. I want to keep doing this, and I want to see a lot of happy faces creating good memories for our community.
