ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The steady, area wide precipitation of snow and sleet has come to an end for most of Western New York. As a result, the News10NBC yellow alert also ended with little to no additional accumulation expected. Reports indicate that most of us have seen approximately two to five inches in the immediate Rochester area. This was a moderate size winter storm that created significant travel problems in the area, but fortunately schools were closed and many people were not working because of the holiday.
For the remainder of the overnight, look for cloudy skies with flurries or a snow shower. As mentioned, little or no additional accumulation is expected for tonight. The temperature will be hovering in the low to mid 20s. Saturday brings cloudy skies and just a passing snow shower possible. The temperature will start in the mid to upper 20s, but the mercury will slowly fall for the afternoon. Sunday features cloudy skies with the chance of rain shower for the afternoon. It will turn noticeably milder as the temperature slowly rises to near 40 degrees. If you are going to the Bills game at Orchad Park you can expect a few rain showers showers early with more of a steady rain possible during game. The temperature will remain near 40 degrees.
Looking ahead to early next week, the mild air will not last as our next blast of arctic air arrives later Monday night through New Years Day.
