The Colorado Department of Transportation will permanently close the I-25 East Frontage Road access to Weld County Road 34 in Mead at 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5.
Local drivers will be able to access their properties between Weld roads 34 and 36, and between Weld 34 and 32, but thru traffic will not be permitted.
This closure is necessary to extend the North Creek Box Culvert as part of the I-25 North Express Lanes Project, according to a CDOT news release. This is also part of an ongoing project between Mead and Weld County to build a 2-mile segment of High Plains Boulevard between Weld roads 32 and Weld 36, which is anticipated to open in summer 2026.
