Arizona Cardinals cornerback Garrett Williams will miss the remainder of the season with a torn Achilles suffered in last week’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Head coach Jonathan Gannon confirmed the severity of the injury ahead of Wednesday’s walkthrough practice.
Gannon said earlier in the week both Williams and rookie defensive lineman Walter Nolen III would go on injured reserve, as Nolen went down with a season-ending knee injury in the same game.
Williams’ season comes to an end after recording 46 tackles, an interception, five passes defensed and a forced fumble in 10 games played.

Williams was carted off in the first quarter of Arizona’s 26-19 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday after going down with the non-contact injury.
The cornerback marked one of many Cardinal injuries suffered in the defeat, with rookie Walter Nolen III needing to be carted off with a season-ending knee issue. Josh Sweat (ankle), Budda Baker (evaluated for a concussion), Hjalte Froholdt (elbow) and Rabbit Taylor-Demerson (evaluated for a concussion) also missed snaps due to injury.
Before the latest injury, Williams had missed six games with a knee issue suffered in Week 2’s win over the Carolina Panthers.
He made his return in Arizona’s Monday Night Football win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Williams has dealt with extensive injuries in the past. In his final season at Syracuse, Williams tore his ACL. The 2023 third-round pick’s rehab poured over into his rookie year with the Cardinals.
Williams missed the first six games of the season before making his NFL debut in Week 7. He would appear in eight more games after that, starting in six of them.
The cornerback quickly found a home as Arizona’s trusted nickel cornerback. He added on more outside reps this season with injuries plaguing the CBs room.
Arizona will have to continue to get creative in filling the voids left behind by Williams and others due to injuries in 2025.
