There are a ton of impressive records in the NBA—Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point game, LeBron’s scoring record, etc. And somehow, the Chicago Bulls being undefeated since I’ve started covering them here at Bleacher Nation feels like a one-above-all kind of achievement. I’m officially claiming myself as the lucky charm… at least until they lose. But with the way Josh Giddey and the team have been playing lately, is a legit playoff push actually on the cards?
Let’s talk Bulls basketball.
Giddey really stuffed the stat sheet like a stocking last night with 19 points, 15 assists, and 11 rebounds. It marked his seventh triple-double of the season — as many as he had the whole last season — and the 25th of his career. That makes him just the sixth player in NBA history, joining Oscar Robertson, Magic Johnson, Luka Dončić, Nikola Jokić, and Ben Simmons, to reach that mark at just 23 years old. Some truly elite company.Good stat from Bulls PR: Giddey becomes just 6th player in league history to tally 25 career triple doubles by age of 23. The others: Oscar Robertson, Magic Johnson, Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic and Ben Simmons t.co/C0CyzauwvA
— K.C. Johnson (@KCJHoop) December 24, 2025 He also managed to record the triple-double in record time for the franchise, doing it in just a little over 20 minutes. On top of that, Giddey became the first Bull to post multiple 15-assist games since the youngest MVP in league history, Derrick Rose.Josh Giddey vs Atlanta:19 PTS11 REB15 ASTThe first Bull with multiple 15 AST games since Rose. pic.twitter.com/mqcCiaJkEE
— StatMuse (@statmuse) December 24, 2025 The Chicago Bulls scored 152 points on Sunday against the Hawks without attempting a single mid-range shot. Last night, I kept my eyes glued to the screen to see if that would change. The Bulls attempted just three mid-range shots, two from the top of the key and one from the wing, and made only one of them. Considering there were stretches where they couldn’t buy a three or a layup and still stayed away from the mid-range, that tells me everything I need to know: this is fully their identity now. via NBA.com Last night, it wasn’t just a Bulls comeback that erupted—emotions did too. With 6:52 left in the fourth quarter, Chicago was trying to climb out of a ditch. Trae Young, who was having himself a night, decided it was the perfect time to take a few victory laps around Ayo Dosunmu. The two had exchanged some words postgame on Sunday, and Young clearly wanted the last laugh. As he headed to the bench, he patted Ayo on the backside and Ayo did not like that one bit. He turned got right into Young’s face. Considering who ended up winning the game and the season series, I’m hoping this moment finds its way into a “Never Celebrate Too Early” compilation on YouTube. twitter.com/CHSN_Bulls/status/2003657265044422694?s=20 “I would hope no man would like that,” Dosunmu said after the game.Don’t slap Ayo on the ass … ever never. — Joe Cowley (@JCowleyHoops) December 24, 2025 Speaking of Trae Young, who made his return Sunday for the two-game set against the Bulls, he had an interesting thing to say about Chicago’s offense. “This is a type of team that just plays fast,” Young said. “If there are kids listening, they probably know what R2 + ☐ means on 2K. You just press R2 and ☐. It feels like that’s what they do the whole game. And it works for them.” He’s not wrong. The Bulls rank as the second-fastest team in the NBA according to pace rating, and they love generating easy baskets in transition.Trae Young, on the Bulls:"This is a type of team that just plays fast. — Kevin Chouinard (@KLChouinard) December 24, 2025 Another star of the night, Coby White, went on a real hero’s journey out there. He started the game off horrendously, turning the ball over on a travel and a double-dribble. But he showed up and showed out in the fourth quarter, pouring in a team-high nine points in the period. He was putting his body on the line to draw calls, which ultimately became the difference in the win. It’s no surprise that more than six teams have already reached out to Chicago in hopes of bringing him on board.Coby White is generating a ton of trade interest around the league, as over six teams have already reached out to the Bulls about him, sources told @ClutchPoints.Chicago believes interest in White from teams with long-term and short-term aspirations will increase his value. t.co/JEsAprAaXP
— Brett Siegel (@BrettSiegelNBA) December 23, 2025 Around the NBA, big changes may be on the horizon. The league has been trying to crack down on tanking, teams sitting their best players in hopes of landing a high draft pick. Those practices hurt the product, which is why the NBA is reportedly in discussions about making changes. The NBA and its stakeholders have started talks on finding new solutions to prevent tanking — and the league proposed multiple ideas to the Board of Governors as the sides brainstorm cures.ESPN story: t.co/qyToetDN9E
— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) December 23, 2025 Three ideas that have been floated include: limiting pick protections to either top-four or 14-and-higher, which would eliminate the problematic mid-lottery protections; no longer allowing a team to draft in the top four in consecutive years; and locking lottery positions after March 1. This might great news for the Bulls.Shams: NBA looking into ways to prevent teams from tanking.Proposed ideas include:– Limiting pick protections to either top 4 or 14 and higher– Not allowing a team to draft in the top 4 in consecutive years– Locking lottery positions after March 1
— Underdog NBA (@UnderdogNBA) December 23, 2025 Also around the NBA, French superstar Victor Wembanyama is ushering in a new era of San Antonio basketball. And what goes hand in hand with a new era? A new tradition. Borrowing a concept from the world of soccer, Wemby has created a group of Spurs ultras, die-hard fans of the team. And now, he’s given them a war cry, something they hope to do after every home win.Wemby just started a new tradition with Spurs fans after the win vs OKC ?(h/t @NBA__Courtside)pic.twitter.com/Wp9GrslejO
— Legion Hoops (@LegionHoops) December 24, 2025 It’s kind of like what the Sacramento Kings did with the ‘beam’, but on a much bigger level. Honestly, goosebumps.
