WEBSTER, N.Y. — A vehicle was accidentally driven into a pond on Tuesday at 1042 Ridge Road, prompting a swift response from Webster Police and local citizens.
A Webster Police officer, a Town of Webster Community Development employee, and two bystanders jumped into the water to rescue the driver. The woman, who was the sole occupant, was pulled to safety before the car became fully submerged.
As a precaution, the driver was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition with no serious injuries reported. The two civilian bystanders were evaluated on-scene by Emergency Medical Services and needed no further treatment. Neither the officer nor the town employee required medical attention.
“We commend these four individuals for their bravery and heroic efforts during this emergency,” officials said.
