Royals in crisis over damning new ‘fun girls’ for ‘Andrew’ emails ...Middle East

News by : (inews) -

The Royal Family was plunged into a fresh crisis after emails suggested convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell sought to procure “pretty and fun” girls for a friend called “Andrew”.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is facing growing pressure to answer questions over his involvement with paedophile financier Jeffrey Esptein, following the release of thousands of new documents by the US Department of Justice.

Epstein victim Maria Farmer called for the former duke to face an investigation in the UK following the release, telling The i Paper: “They need to set a precedent. They should have the decency to make a clear statement, you cannot harm young girls.”

Mountbatten-Windsor, who lost the use of his Duke of York title following scrutiny over his links with Esptein, has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.

One email sent to Maxwell, Esptein’s closest associate, by “A” from “Balmoral” asked for “new inappropriate friends”.

The message was sent from an account with the alias ‘The Invisible Man’ – a pen name that was also used alongside a separate email address listed in Epstein’s phone book as “Duke of York”.

Sent on 16 August 2001, the email begins: “I am up here at Balmoral Summer Camp for the Royal Family.” Lower down, the sender asks: “Have you found me some new inappropriate friends?” The sign-off reads: “See ya A xxx.”

In another email exchange, Maxwell messaged a contact in Peru saying she was looking to procure “intelligent, pretty and fun” women “from good families” for a friend she referred to as “Andrew”.

The messages show Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking of minors, planning a trip to Peru for a friend saved in her contacts as “the Invisible Man” in 2002.

She later messaged the contact: “Some 2 legged sight seeing (read intelligent pretty fun and from good families and he will be very happy.”

Maxwell then forwarded the message to ‘The Invisible Man’, saying: “Thought you would like to see what I sent – Have a great time. Gx”.

While The Invisible Man is not identified in the files, Mountbatten-Windsor conducted a six-day official visit to Peru in March 2002 to mark the 50th year of his mother’s reign.

Photographs previously released by the DoJ appeared to show Mountbatten-Windsor introducing Epstein to British high society – including a shooting trip to Balmoral and a trip to the royal box at Ascot.

The former duke could also be seen reclining across the legs of five women with his head near one woman’s lap, in a picture reportedly taken at Sandringham, the King’s private estate in Norfolk where Mountbatten-Windsor will move from Windsor in the new year following controversy over his residence at the 30-room Royal Lodge, where he has paid only ‘peppercorn’ rent for more than 20 years.Palace officials insist Andrew will still move to Sandringham despite new revelations.

But some close to the King think that, while the former prince will be given a property there, he may well end up living abroad for much of the time, away from scrutiny.

One former senior royal aide told The i Paper the palace has been left with the worst of all worlds and says Mountbatten-Windsor should have been forced to answer questions.

“He should have been forced to answer questions about his behaviour,” the source said.

The latest tranche of thousands of documents released by the US DoJ from the “Epstein files” include emails which showed how the Metropolitan Police contacted the FBI about Mountbatten-Windsor last month.

In an email, dated 10 November, a detective chief inspector from the Met said they were “reviewing” alleged efforts by Mountbatten-Windsor to get information on Epstein trafficking victim Virginia Giuffre through his protection officers.

Earlier this month, the force said it would not launch a criminal investigation into the claims the former duke asked his taxpayer-funded bodyguard to dig up dirt on Ms Giuffre.

Mountbatten-Windsor paid millions to Ms Giuffre, a woman he has claimed never to have met, to settle a civil sexual assault claim in 2022. Ms Giuffre died aged 41 in April.

The new documents show US authorities asked to interview Mountbatten-Windsor five years ago and submitted a ‘request for assistance’ from the UK government asking for what they called “a compelled interview” with him under oath if he refused to agree voluntarily.

Ms Farmer, a fellow Epstein victim, said Mounbatten-Windsor should be compelled to face questioning. She told The i Paper: “They need to set a precedent, especially with young royals coming up… This is an embarrassment. The ethics aside they should have the decency to make a clear statement, you cannot harm young girls.”

Mounbatten-Windsor has always denied being involved in any abuse against women or girls.

Emails also showed how US lawyers believed there were “various factual inaccuracies” in Mountbatten-Windsor’s accounts during their probe into Epstein.

The internal communications came during a public row between the former duke and US prosecutors over his cooperation with their requests for an interview.

US politicians have criticised the former duke for his “silence” after he missed a deadline last month to respond to their request to sit for an interview about Epstein.
