Fire crews fully contained the fire that sparked west of Boulder on Monday night, and the evacuation orders for the area have been lifted.
The fire started around 5:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Wild Turkey Trail in Fourmile Canyon, before growing to about 3 acres. Crews got the blaze 100% contained around 10:30 p.m., according to a Boulder County Sheriff’s Office social media post. The fire sparked on an unusually warm day for Boulder County, and shortly after Monday’s red flag warning and critical fire conditions.
All evacuation orders were lifted and the all clear was given at 10:28 p.m., according to Boulder County’s alert system, BOCOAlert.
As of about 10 p.m., the ground was littered with small, burning patches, as seen in a video the sheriff’s office posted to social media.
No structures had been lost as of about 8 p.m., according to sheriff’s office spokesperson Carrie Haverfield.
Before the evacuation warning was lifted, there were about 662 people and 449 structures in the areas under evacuation order and evacuation warning, according to sheriff’s office spokesperson Vinnie Montez. The sheriff’s office did not have information about the cause of the fire.
The evening fire came only three days after a windstorm brought 100-plus mph winds to the county.
Monday night’s blaze was not the first wildfire the area has seen. In September 2010, the Fourmile Canyon Fire burned about 5,700 acres and destroyed 162 homes.
It was unclear whether crews were still on scene mopping up the remnants of the fire on Tuesday morning.
