It’s happening!
For the first time since 2020, the Chicago Bears are headed to the playoffs. The combination of Saturday’s win against the Green Bay Packers and the loss by the Detroit Lions on Sunday helped punch Chicago’s ticket into the postseason. Now, all the Bears need is one more win so they can take the NFC North crown. If Chicago can pull it off, it will be the Bears’ first divisional title since 2018. Moments like this don’t come around often enough for me not to enjoy the heck out of it when they do happen. So I encourage you to let loose and feel the good vibes of the playoff-bound Bears.

Do we know who they’ll play? No, not yet. There is still so much to determine with seeds and whatnot. But we can cross that bridge when we get to it. But for now, let’s just enjoy the fact that the Bears have clinched a postseason berth. This team has 11 wins. And more could be on the horizon. Stay locked in!

Next up for the Bears is a date with the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football. That will be a doozy of a game between a Chicago team that has already qualified for the playoffs and a San Francisco squad that is trying to play its way into the postseason. The Niners have a lot to play for, but so do the Bears. Don’t get it twisted. I’m enjoying the heck out of the fact that the Bears are in the playoffs for the first time since 2020. But this group can play its way into the No. 1 seed if it wins out and gets some help along the way.
Early in the season, Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson said his team would be playing its best ball in December. That line looks more prophetic the deeper into December we get.
Chicago has won back-to-back games since falling in Week 14 to Green Bay and appears to be getting healthier. Since the end of November, we have seen the return of cornerback Jaylon Johnson, as well as linebackers T.J. Edwards and Tremaine Edmunds. This group suffered some setbacks with cornerback Kyler Gordon going on injured reserve, as well as the injuries to Rome Odunze and rookie Luther Burden III that kept them on the sidelines for the Week 16 win against the Packers. However, there seems to be optimism that the wideouts could return in the coming weeks. As for Gordon, he could be eligible to return from IR for the team’s first playoff game — whenever that happens to be.

In the end, I’m just excited about the opportunity to watch this team in the playoffs. This group is special. It isn’t like the 2020 team that snuck into the No. 7 seed and was outmatched by the New Orleans Saints. Frankly, the less we think about that team the better it is for all of us. Because this team is far more worthy of a playoff spot.
This team has a young nucleus, an innovative offensive-minded head coach, a quarterback with a flair for the dramatic, an opportunistic defense led by a veteran play-caller, and a little bit of magic that makes you believe that anything is possible. Seasons like this one don’t come around often. In fact, this is just the third season since this site has been around in which the Bears won’t finish with a losing record. We’ve had to write about three head coach firings, countless draft picks that didn’t pan out, millions of dollars in wasted cap space, and so many more unsavory topics that I’d rather not recall. So please enjoy this. You’ll regret it later if you don’t.
