Jayden Quaintance, a transfer from Arizona State who tore his ACL in February, officially made his Kentucky debut against the Red Storm today. Mo Dioubate also missed several games earlier this year due to an ankle injury.
Lowe’s injury is especially concerning because he is crucial for Mark Pope and Co, to say the least. The veteran Pitt transfer is the only true point guard on the roster, and this raises significant concerns about the lead guard position moving forward.
As mentioned, this is not the first time Lowe has dealt with this shoulder injury. Lowe missed 5 games in November and early December — including losses to Michigan State and North Carolina — but turned in his best performance of the season against Indiana last Saturday, scoring 13 points with a pair of assists and 5 rebounds in 24 minutes of action.
As far as the lead guard position is concerned, there are a few players that Pope can fill in should Lowe’s injury continue to keep him sidelined. Florida transfer Denzel Aberdeen and freshman Jasper Johnson both played point during Lowe’s absence earlier this year.
