The Ole Miss Rebels have navigated their way to the first College Football Playoff appearance in program history this season on the strength of their elite offense, and senior quarterback Trinidad Chambliss has been the lynch pin in what’s been one of the nation’s most explosive units.
The Ferris State transfer started the year as the backup to sophomore gunslinger Austin Simmons, but took the reins when Simmons went down back in Week 2 and never looked back.
Despite his electric play on the field in the regular season, though, SEC Network analyst Jordan Rodgers believes that Chambliss has become the most overlooked quarterback in the College Football Playoff.
“I think that Trinidad Chambliss is the most overlooked quarterback in the playoff,” Rodgers said on SEC Nation. “I think that he is fantastic, and I don’t think enough people are talking about how good he really is. Since he took over as the starter, he is 9-1, averaging 340 yards per game, and has 24 touchdowns to just 3 interceptions… He’s so dynamic, and to me this offense is as dangerous as anybody else’s in the playoff.”
