CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — A substitute teacher with the Canandaigua School District has been arrested after Canandaigua Police say he sent inappropriate messages to two minor students.
Police say between November and December, 27-year-old Michael Thompson, of Canandaigua, sent inappropriate photos through Snapchat to two minors.
Thompson was arrested Wednesday and charged with endangering the welfare of a child. He was brought to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.
In a statement from the school district, the district says Thompson was a volunteer coach during the 2024-25 winter indoor track season and the spring modified boys’ lacrosse season.
The district says Thompson only attended no more than two practices total for each season, and only worked as a substitute teacher for two days during the 2025-26 school year.
