Officials announced Wednesday that National City offices will be closed beginning next week as part of an unpaid two-week work furlough in agreement with city employees.
The closure, which includes libraries and recreation centers, will begin Monday and continue through Jan. 2, with offices reopening on Jan. 5. Fire and police personnel will continue normal operations.
Residents can still make drop box payments outside the main front doors of City Hall, but payments will not be processed until city offices reopen. Penalties for late library books will not accrue during the closure, officials said.
In case of a severe storm or natural disaster during the closure, additional city personnel will be available on-call to respond to emergencies.
Further assistance for sewer issues, flooding, fallen trees or a health and safety inspection can be acquired via the city’s hotline at (619) 336-4411, ext. 0.
Business license fees and parking citations can also be paid online at nationalcityca.gov.
