The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office said between 2:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, seven vehicles were hit by “bottles containing various liquid substances” along U.S. 421.
Drivers told law enforcement they had been traveling on the highway when their vehicle was struck by an object that had been thrown from a vehicle heading in the opposite direction, sheriff’s officials said.
All of the incidents occurred on roughly a 20-mile stretch of the highway between County Road 200 North, which is just south of Michigan City, and County Road 1800 South, near the town of LaCrosse.
Sheriff’s officials said deputies have increased patrols in an effort to locate those responsible.
