ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Blue Cross Arena is set to become Rochester’s latest venue with a clear bag policy. Starting on Jan. 5, guests won’t be allowed to carry large purses, backpacks, or fanny packs into the arena.
Instead, guests can carry one clear bag, no larger than 12” x 6” x 12”, or a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag. Guests will still be allowed to carry a small purse, but no larger than 4.5 x 6.5 inches, about the size of a hand.
Arena leaders say the new policy enhances security and makes screening at the entrances more efficient. Innovative Field and several festivals around the area, including the Lilac Festival, have already implemented clear bag policies.
Diapers and wipes may be carried in a clear bag, but diaper bags are not permitted. Blankets or additional clothing are allowed if they’re carried loosely or in a clear bag. Small cameras, binoculars, and cell phones are also allowed if they’re carried in an approved bag.
For guests with bags that are a medical necessity, staff will make special accommodations. However, each bag will need to be properly searched and tagged by security before entering. You can learn more here. The Blue Cross Arena will not have a place to store any prohibited bags.
