ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Hanukkah is underway. The Jewish holiday to celebrate the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and religious freedom began at sundown on Sunday, Dec. 14.

For many of the eight nights of Hanukkah, there will be public menorah lightings around the Rochester area. Hanukkah ends at sundown on Monday, Dec. 22. Here’s the schedule:

Monday (second night)

The Chabad of Pittsford is celebrating Hanukkah at the parking lot of the Pittsford Public Library. It begins at 6 p.m. and will feature a six-foot-tall ice menorah, fire juggler entertainment, music, and latkes.

There will also be a menorah lighting at the Four Corners on Penfield on Monday at Route 441 and Five Mile Line Road. It begins at 5:30 p.m. and will include donuts and latkes.

Tuesday (third night)

The Victor Town Hall on 85 East Main St. is hosting a menorah lighting at 6 p.m. The Henrietta Recreation Center on 605 Calkins Rd. is also holding a menorah lighting with an indoor reception. At both events, there will be donuts and latkes.

Wednesday (fourth night)

The Mendon Town Hall on 16 West Main St. is hosting a menorah lighting at 6 p.m. There will be donuts and latkes. There will also be a menorah lighting at the Rochester Amerks game on Wednesday night during the first intermission. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. at the Blue Cross Arena against the Utica Comets. Thursday (fifth night)

The Fairport Village Hall on 31 South Main Street is hosting a menorah lighting at 5 p.m. There will be donuts and latkes.

Saturday (seventh night)

The Twelve Corners in Brighton is holding a celebration starting at 7 p.m. with its giant LED menorah. There will be donuts, latkes, and gelt cannon.
