The writing was on the wall after last week’s Chiefs loss, but their Week 15 defeat against the Chargers (coupled with wins by the Bills, Jaguars, and Texans) made things officially official. This will mark the first time that a Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City team has ever missed the playoffs. Previously, the Chiefs had made the postseason in each year since making Mahomes their QB1. K.C. had also made it to the Super Bowl representing the AFC in five of the last six years. The three Super Bowl wins led to chatter of a modern dynasty. We can stop with that now that the Chiefs are missing the playoffs for the first time since 2014.
And to further twist the knife, Patrick Mahomes appeared to suffer a serious injury late in the game:

But for now, I can’t stop thinking about how the end of this era in K.C. serves as a reminder to enjoy what the Bears have going for them this season. You just never know how long the good times will last. And in the NFL, they can be gone in the blink of an eye.
