Servite and water polo coach Andy Coffman part ways after 11 seasons ...Middle East

Servite and boys water polo coach Andy Coffman have “parted ways” after 11 seasons, the Trinity League school announced Friday.

Coffman, who also served as the school’s aquatics director since 2015, highlighted his tenure by leading Servite to the CIF-SS Division 3 title in 2018.

It was the school’s first section championship since 2005 under legendary coach Jim Sprague.

This past season, Servite finished 18-10 overall, 1-4 in league and lost to eventual champion Loyola 17-11 in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs. It was the Friars’ second straight first round exit from the playoffs.

Servite thanked Coffman for his commitment to the program and noted his achievements, including appearances in the semifinals in 2017 and 2021.

“I feel great about my run at Servite,” Coffman said. “I don’t think we had a year that we didn’t overachieve with the talent. This last season epitomized that qualifying for Division 1 with just a few players on the team having even played water polo before coming to Servite.”

Coffman arrived at Servite after five seasons at University.

Rory Bevins, a dean of academics for Servite and alumnus of the school, is serving as the interim coach for aquatics, athletic director Matt Marrujo said. Aaron Bauer is assisting with coaching swim.
