It’s the last day off before we get back to some Bulls basketball!
And no, that’s not a threat, I promise.
Bulls Bullets
Amid the several days off and seven-game losing streak, Bulls head coach Billy Donovan met the media on Wednesday and gave some pretty blunt, honest responses when talking about his team and the struggles they’re going through. One of the things that Billy Donovan said was that he doesn’t view the Bulls as any different from teams like Indiana and New Orleans. Just because they have bad records doesn’t mean the Bulls can just walk in and expect to win. Clearly, you can sense some frustration that his team lost out on attention to detail, and it cost them in those spots. And he’s right. Just because the Bulls got off to a good start doesn’t make them a better team than squads like New Orleans or Indiana. Heck, look at the current rosters factoring in health, and the fact of the matter is, he’s right, his team really isn’t all that different from those.Billy Donovan went long today: “People wanna sit there and say, ‘Well, you lost to New Orleans. They got a bad a record.’ Indiana, bad record. I don’t think we’re any different from those teams. We’re not just gifted to walk in there (and) if we show up, we’ll win games. … I do…
— Joel Lorenzi (@JoelXLorenzi) December 10, 2025 Donovan addressed those injuries, too, and basically said injuries aren’t why they’re losing games; again, it’s that lack of attention to detail that’s costing his team. I like Kevin Huerter and Zach Collins; they’re nice players. But their injuries (granted, among others) aren’t valid excuses to not only be losing to these bottom-of-the-standings teams, but also being non-competitive. If the Bulls want to fix the issues plaguing them, it seems like their coach wants them to look in the mirror.Donovan on Bulls’ inability to uphold their playstyle through recent skid: “I’m not looking at film saying, ‘Oh, Kevin Huerter’s out, Zach Collins is out. Boy, if HE was here, this would be different.’ I don’t believe that. Some of it’s, like, inbounding the basketball. What do…
— Joel Lorenzi (@JoelXLorenzi) December 10, 2025 One player Billy Donovan came to the defense of was Nikola Vucevic. Donovan claimed that Vooch was “invested and committed.” And, I get that Vooch is probably frustrated with the team’s performance, effort, and attention to detail. But also, he’s someone who’s not necessarily flourishing in those departments either. That’s not to say he doesn’t care or isn’t trying; clearly, he does, and he is. But he’s got plenty of issues on both sides of the floor, especially defensively, that he can improve on himself. I have zero problems with him holding the younger players to a higher standard, but he has to live those standards, too.Donovan on Vooch: "When we're not playing to our identity, that frustrates him. When he sees sometimes there's not carryover from shootarounds to games, that frustrates him. And I want him to use his voice. Vooch holds himself to a high standard but also knows we need everybody."
— K.C. Johnson (@KCJHoop) December 10, 2025 So, yeah, things don’t appear to be going all that swimmingly with the Bulls and in their locker room. Though I think that would be the case for any team that’s lost seven games in a row. Hopefully, a few days away from game action will rejuvenate that, and we’ll see a team tomorrow night against the Hornets that looks a little more committed to playing the right way and to their identity that got them off to such a great start. The Oklahoma City Thunder won again last night and advanced to the semifinals of the NBA Cup after a blowout win over the Phoenix Suns. They’ll face the Spurs, who cruised by the Lakers 132-119. By picking up that win over Phoenix, Oklahoma City became just the second team in NBA history to start a season 24-1, joining just the 2015-16 Warriors, who finished the year 73-9, beating the 1995-96 Bulls’ record-setting 72-10 regular season record by a game. However, the Warriors ended up falling short in the NBA Finals. — Underdog NBA (@UnderdogNBA) December 11, 2025 Lastly, a new Giannis Antetokounmpo rumor popped up yesterday. Yahoo’s Jake Fischer reported that the Warriors are interested in The Greek Freak and would be interested in including Draymond Green. Here’s what Fischer said: “The only player I think in the league that Golden State would be willing to move Draymond Green for would be Giannis Antetokounmpo. That’s the only player. Between him and Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski, all of a sudden Golden State probably does have an intriguing package if you’re Milwaukee. But I don’t think that they are going to be pushing Draymond’s salary onto the table — or Jimmy Butler’s salary — for anyone short of him.” – Insider Notebook with Jake FischerThe Warriors are reportedly willing to trade Draymond Green for Giannis Antetokounmpo, per @JakeLFischer “The only player I think in the league that Golden State would be willing to move Draymond Green for would be Giannis Antetokounmpo. — NBACentral (@TheDunkCentral) December 11, 2025 I’ll be honest, if I were running the Bucks, I’m not sure I’d see Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski, and Draymond Green as all that intriguing a package for one of the most dominant players in the game today. Golden State owns its own first-round picks through 2032, with the exception of just 2030, so there is draft capital there. So if that were the package, you’d have to imagine quite a bit of draft capital would be attached. One of the top free-agent relievers on the market reportedly wanted to sign with the Cubs.
