Women’s Recap
Penn’s Sydney Bergstrom led a 1-2 finish for the Quakers in the 1650 freestyle. Bergstrom touched first in a season-best 16:09.74, just ahead of her teammate Anna Moehn in 16:11.18.
Princeton’s Savannah Skow narrowly beat Amy Qin of Penn in the women’s 50 butterfly. Skow touched the wall just four hundredths of a second ahead of Qin in a lifetime best time of 23.89.
Kate Levensten of Penn took a tight win over Jilly MacNamara of Colombia in the women’s 200 backstroke. Levensten touched just over two-tenths of a second ahead of MacNamara (1:57.14) in 1:56.92. Levensten set her best time in the prelims in 1:55.22.
Princeton’s Sabrina Johnston took the 100 free win by about a third of a second, clocking her fastest time of the season in 48.61.
Eliza Brown continued the final day wins for Princeton, claiming the 200 breaststroke crown with a final time of 2:13.24, outpacing Penn’s Meredith Holcomb in 2:13.99.
Qin got the better of Skow in the 100 IM later in the session, touching in 55.32, compared to the 55.69 of Skow.
Princeton topped the final times in the 200 fly with the tandem of Heidi Smithwick and Eleanor Sun. Smithwick posted he top time in 1:56.86, while her teammate, Sun, was right behind in 1:56.95. No other competitor was faster than 1:58.8.
The Princeton women closed out the meet with a 400 free relay win in 3:16.62. The team of Sophia Sunwoo (49.22), Johnston (48.30), Edie Simecek (49.46), and Skow (49.64) led the 1-2 relay win, followed by the Princeton ‘B’ relay in 3:20.20.

Princeton’s Santiago Gutierrez dominated the men’s 1650 free, logging the only time un der 15 minutes. Gutierrez finished in 14:45.61. That time broke his own program record for Princeton by 13 seconds.
Conor McKenna continued Princeton’s final day of scoring, winning the 50 fly in his fastest performance of his career of 21.03.
Parker Lenoce also notched a program record for Princeton in the men’s 200 back, lowering Tyler Hong’s previous mark by .22 seconds in a winning effort of 1:41.35.
Colombia’s Zion James nearly cracked the 43-second barrier in the men’s 100 free, touching in 43.04, his fastest time of the season thus far. The top seven finishers all turned in times under 44 seconds.
Penn’s Peter Whittington and Watson Nguyen battled in the men’s 200 breast. Whittington just narrowly edged out Nguyen by .17 seconds in 1:53.72, his fastest time of the season by nearly three seconds.
Kyle Won of Colombia was dominant in the 100 IM, taking the event win by over a second and a half and the lone sub-50-second swim in the final at 49.29.
Mitchell Schott earned the final individual event win of the Big Al Invitational in the men’s 200 fly. Schott took the win comfortably in 1:42.05; McKenna was 2nd in 1:44.44. Schott has been as fast as 1:40.42, which he set at the Ivy League Championships in March.
Princeton closed out its winning efforts with a victory in the men’s 400 free relay. Schott (42.96), Daniel Li (43.37), Lucas Tudoras (43.63), and Jake Tarara (42.64) combined for 2:52.60 to put a stamp on a home invitational win.
