ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Meteorological winter started on December 1st, and we haven’t looked back! We have more snow showers on the way this weekend. Saturday starts off dry with some limited sun. We’ll see some snow showers developing during the afternoon and evening as a weak cold front approaches the area. Expect nothing more than a fresh dusting or coating of snow on Saturday. Another clipper will move through on Sunday, bringing our next round of snow showers and light snow. We’ll see a few hours of a steadier light snow into the afternoon, followed by some minor lake enhanced snow later in the evening. Overall, accumulations should stay under an inch or two in most spots.
But if you’re going to the Bills game in Orchard Park, there will likely be flurries for tailgating, and some light snow during the game. Temperatures will top out in the mid 30s on Saturday, and near 30 on Sunday.
Our very active weather pattern continues into next week, with 3 more fast moving clipper systems passing nearby. Before that happens, we start off the week with another shot of Arctic air. Highs on Monday will only reach the lower 20s, with Tuesday morning likely starting in the single digits once again. Our next chance of snow arrives on Tuesday afternoon, with some light snow showers. Another, slightly stronger clipper moves in on Wednesday, bringing more precipitation, but this time it may be just mild enough for the wet snow to mix with some rain showers. Another minor accumulation is possible then.
We’ll get another punch of cold air and some lake snow on Thursday, before yet another fast moving storm could bring another chance at some light area-wide snow by Friday of next week. At this point, none of these storms look to bring us heavy snow, but the timing of some of the snow needs to be monitored for road conditions.
