Skanska inks deals worth $765m in Europe and US ...Middle East

Swedish contractor and developer Skanska has had a busy couple of weeks, notching up three contracts and one commercial property sale in Europe and the US – together worth US$765m.

The company continues its run of data centre project wins and will build two more in the US, with contracts worth $263m and $256m.

It didn’t say where or for whom, only that each involves building the shell and interior fit-out for technical spaces, support areas and office functions. 

Work on them starts in the first quarter of 2026 and they’re expected to be finished in the third quarter of 2027.

Helicopter required

Skanska has also signed a $95m (NOK950m) contract to build the Illvatn pumped-storage hydropower plant in Luster municipality, western Norway, for Norwegian energy company Hydro.

This involves building an underground power station, more than 9km of tunnels, and a new permanent road.

Parts of the project area are roadless and require helicopter transport.

When operational in 2030, the plant will be able to generate 84GWh of electricity a year.

On the property development side of the business, the company has struck a deal to sell its Port7 office complex in Prague (pictured) for $151m (€130m) to real estate company AFI Europe.

Skanska completed the three-building, 36,000-sq-m complex in April 2023.

Situated on brownfield land on the left bank of the Vltava River, Port7 is LEED Platinum certified. The transaction is scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2026.
