The Blackhawks came out fast and did a lot of really good things in the opening 20 minutes. They dominated the chances, but didn’t get anything past Darcy Kuemper. The attacking continued to start the second period. On their first full power play in the second period they were finally able to find the back of the net.
Late in the second period, the Blackhawks were a complete mess but found a way to get a loose puck in the offensive zone and score a huge second goal to take a 2-0 lead to the second intermission. The second goal came with 5.1 seconds left in the period.
It took more than ten minutes into the third period, but the third goal of the night came from the Kings. It looked like it got a piece of Sam Rinzel on its way into the net. It seemed fitting the Blackhawks would have to kill a fifth penalty with 86 seconds left in regulation — which they did successfully.
Star 1: Connor Bedard
The Blackhawks really needed to score the first goal of the game after dominating the first period but coming up empty. Leave it up to Bedard. He has a goal in four of the last five Blackhawks games. Tonight marked the 17th time in his young NHL career that Bedard scored the first goal of a game, which ranks sixth among active players since the start of his rookie year behind Sidney Crosby (21), Leon Draisaitl (21), Adrian Kempe (21), David Pastrnak (19) and Artemi Panarin (19).

— BlackhawksFocus (@FocusBlackhawks) December 5, 2025Star 2: Frank Nazar
It might feel like Nazar will never score another goal right now, but he’s still making an impact on the game. He had assists on both of the goals in the second period. And, after 40 minutes, he had the Blackhawks’ highest expected goals for (0.82) and was tied for the team lead with two individual high danger chances at 5-on-5. He was also credited with two blocked shots and two hits before the end of the second period. Nazar has an assist in four straight games; he has two, four-game assist streaks in the last ten Blackhawks’ games. Tonight was Nazar’s first multi-point game since Oct. 28.

— BlackhawksFocus (@FocusBlackhawks) December 5, 2025Star 3: Wyatt Kaiser
Beyond scoring his first goal of the season, Kaiser was really good tonight at even strength and on the penalty kill. He skated confidently with the puck and moved it out of trouble pretty well for the most part. The coaches rewarded him with the most ice time on the roster.
Key Takeaways
Spencer Knight was really good again tonight. He stopped 26 of 27 in the game. Teuvo Teräväinen took a puck to the mouth with 56 seconds left in regulation and needed help to the room. Hopefully he’s okay… but he might have left a tooth or two on the ice. Helluvan effort. At 5-on-5 in the first period, the Blackhawks had a 22-10 shot attempt advantage, a 9-6 advantage in scoring chances and a 4-2 advantage in high danger chances. Colton Dach had a terrific first period. At 5-on-5 he was on the ice for 2:48 during which the Blackhawks had advantages of 8-0 in shot attempts and 3-0 in shots on net. He was credited with two shots on net and had two of the Blackhawks’ four hits in the opening 20 minutes. And he did that getting only four shifts in the period. The Blackhawks sent three guys to the box in the first period. The good news: their penalty kill was terrific. They finished the night killing all five penalties. The Kings predictably flipped the script in the second period, especially after the Blackhawks’ first goal. At 5-on-5, LA had the advantage in shot attempts (26-18) and scoring chances (11-9) in the second.Hence then, the article about blackhawks 2 kings 1 three stars key takeaways was published today ( ) and is available on Bleacher Nation ( Middle East ) The editorial team at PressBee has edited and verified it, and it may have been modified, fully republished, or quoted.
