ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Students at Saint John Fisher University enjoyed a break from finals Thursday with a special event featuring kittens and coffee.
The “Cats and Coffee” event, part of a class project in Dr. Melissa Lopes’ media relations course, aimed to introduce local organizations to the campus while teaching students real-world PR skills.
The event was a collaboration with Luigi’s Coffee and East Rochester Meow-Scue Cat Rescue. Students met adoptable kittens and sampled coffee, supporting small local businesses.
“They’ve been helping Luigi’s with some social media, some event planning, and just helping us give a little bit of business boost,” said Kristin Weltman, owner of Luigi’s.
The event provided students with hands-on experience in media relations while benefiting local businesses and animal rescues.
“There’s so many displaced animals, especially cats in Rochester, so its a great way for people to meet adoptable cats,” said an event organizer.
