ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The United Christian Leadership Ministry (UCLM) announced the launch of a new community dashboard Thursday aimed at strengthening the relationship between the community, the city of Rochester, and Rochester Police.
The dashboard gives people direct access to community updates, events, and data about public safety and engagement initiatives, with a focus on RPD’s body-worn camera (BWC) program.
In 2013, UCLM advocated for Rochester Police officers to wear body-worn camera’s. The UCLM President Dr. Dwight Fowler said data showed BWC helped reduce complaints against officers, decrease injuries, and decrease police misconduct.
Through the dashboard, people can see data on things such as when body-worn camera’s were activated across various RPD units, by an individual officer, or for the four geographic patrol sections within RPD’s Patrol Division.
“Transparency builds trust,” said Fowler in a press release. “This dashboard isn’t just about data — it’s about creating a space where the community, law enforcement, and city officials can work together more effectively.”
