Police released new details on their investigation into an incident involving actress Tara Reid at a suburban Chicago hotel last month.
According to authorities, investigators have combed through video evidence from the DoubleTree hotel in Rosemont and conducted multiple interviews surrounding the case.
Reid filed a police report in late November alleging her drink had been tampered with at a bar inside the hotel on River Road.
Rosemont officials confirmed police and paramedics responded to a call at the hotel, and according to officials, Reid was transported to an area hospital.
Video posted by TMZ, which was taken by a witness, showed the “American Pie” actress on a stretcher.
The actress told the publication shortly after the incident that she had left a drink at the bar unattended while smoking a cigarette and when she returned, the drink had a napkin placed on top that she did not put there. She went on to drink her beverage and the next thing she remembers was waking up in the hospital.
A spokesperson for the actress had issued a statement after the incident confirming that Reid was cooperating with the investigation, asking for “privacy.”
Police said surveillance footage from the hotel shows a bartender covering her drink when she left “which is standard practice for bartenders to do.”
“While video surveillance showed Tara Reid at the hotel bar, at no time did video show anyone tampering with or adding something to her drink,” police said in an update Wednesday.
The investigation is still waiting on hospital records, but at this time, police say that they believe “no criminal act” was committed at the hotel and they are not currently investigating any suspects.
“While we do not have any evidence that a drink was tampered with, it is a good reminder to never leave a drink unattended. If you ever believe you have been drugged or feel unsafe, please reach out to local authorities,” a police spokesperson said.
Reid had been in the Chicago suburb for an appearance at the Chicago Sports Spectacular event in late November.
