Everything Amy Schumer Has Said About Her GLP-1 Experience So Far ...Middle East

News by : (Us magazine) -

Amy Schumer has been candid over the past couple of years about her experience using weight loss drugs on her health journey.

In March 2025, Schumer explained that three years ago she tried GLP-1 medication Wegovy — and did not have a pleasant time on it.

“I was puking. I couldn’t handle it,” Schumer said in a video shared via Instagram. “I don’t know if they’ve changed the formula, whatever. But anyway, I went on this Telehealth meeting with Midi Health, and it was cheap. I wanted to try it myself ‘cause I wanted to recommend it to my friends who are nurses and teachers.”

Schumer explained that they realized she was in premenopause and put her on “estrogen and progesterone.”

“My hair is fuller, my skin is better, I have more energy, I want to get down more, if you know what I mean,” she said. “I’m talking about sex. So that’s been great and Mounjaro’s been great.”

According to WebMD, while Mounjaro is similar to other drugs such as Wegovy or Ozempic because they all contain GLP-1 that assists in weight loss, Mounjaro is specifically designed to help diabetes patients with weight management. Common side effects can include nausea and diarrhea.

Schumer revealed that she had tried Ozempic — but stopped using it due to the negative side effects it had on her.

“Like a year ago, I tried it. I was one of those people that felt so sick and couldn’t play with my son,” the comedian explained during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. “I was so skinny and he’s throwing a ball at me and [I couldn’t].”

Schumer realized that the effects were not “livable” for her — however, she “immediately invested because I knew everyone was going to try it.”

“Everyone has been lying, saying, ‘Oh smaller portions.’ Like shut the f*** up. You are on Ozempic or one of those things or you got work done. Just stop,” she noted. “Be real with the people. When I got lipo, I said I got lipo.”

Nearly two years after revealing she tried Ozempic, Schumer opened up about the experience once again, noting that she also has a gene that makes her more “prone to nausea.”

“I have this gene, GDF15, which makes you extremely prone to nausea, which is why I was so sick during my pregnancy,” Schumer said on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show at the time. “So, I tried Ozempic almost three years ago and I was like, bedridden. I was like, vomiting — and then you have no energy. But other people take it and they’re all good. So, God bless them.”

After revealing that she moved off of the GLP-1 medication Wegovy, Schumer said that she had been on Mounjaro to help with weight management.

“And, look, it’s not covered by insurance unless you have diabetes or like severe obesity, which most of the internet thinks I have,” the actress said in an Instagram video. “But I’m having a really good experience with it and I wanted to keep it real with you about that.”

December 2025

Schumer addressed her followers’ reactions to losing weight on social media, noting that she didn’t do it to “look hot” but rather “to survive.”

“I had a disease that makes your face extremely puffy that can kill you but the internet caught it and that disease has been cleared,” Schumer said via Instagram Video referring to being diagnosed with Cushing syndrome in February 2024. “Sorry for whatever feeling it’s giving you that I lost that weight.”
