ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A group of Rochester kids are gearing up for a special performance in this year’s production of “The Nutcracker” at the West Herr Auditorium Theater. The dancers from the Webster dance school Dancing with Denise will dance alongside the full international professional cast Tuesday.
“It’s really exciting and this is my first year,” Norah Blackburn, a student at the Dancing with Denise school in Webster, said.
Sophia Petro, another student, expressed her excitement, saying, “Everyone will be there to see me and they will just be there to watch me dance. And this is going to be a great achievement in my life.”
Denise Baller, owner of Dancing with Denise, shared her perspective on the opportunity. “For me, when I danced, when I was a child, I never had these opportunities,” said Baller. “So I’m just very grateful to be able to give it to them.”
“Nutcracker! Magical Christmas Ballet” is traveling to more than 80 cities across the country, partnering with local dance schools like Dancing with Denise.
“The Nutcracker” is set to be performed at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the West Herr Auditorium on East Main Street. Tickets can be ordered here.
