WYOMING COUNTY, N.Y. — Two people are dead after separate car crashes in Wyoming County last week, one on Wednesday in Arcade and the other on Friday in Wethersfield.

The crash in Arcade happened just before 7 p.m. on Genesee Road and the driver died the day after. Wyoming County sheriff’s deputies say a deer ran onto the road and caused the car to swerve and leave the road. Deputies say the car rolled over multiple times, but 55-year-old Alfred Rex Jr. of Arcade was able to get out on his own.

According to deputies, medical crews evaluated Rex at the scene, but he declined to be taken to the hospital, instead returning to his family. On Thursday morning, Rex called 911 and was taken to ECMC hospital, where he died from internal injuries believed to be from the crash.

The crash in Wethersfield happened around 2:30 p.m. and the driver died two days later. Deputies say Paul Pusloski, 82, of North Java, lost control because of a patch of snow and ice. That caused his car to leave the road at the intersection of Wethersfield Road and Poplar Tree Road.

The car hit a utility pole and crews tried to save Pusloski’s life with first aid. He was taken to the Wyoming County Community Hospital and was later transferred to Buffalo General Hospital, where he died on Sunday.

Both crashes are still under investigation.
