Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green did not start for the Razorbacks for Saturday’s game against Mizzou. After struggling in recent weeks and while currently dealing with a minor hamstring issue, interim HC Bobby Petrino decided to start freshman signal caller KJ Jackson.
It’s not hard to see why Arkansas when with Jackson in this spot for the Razorbacks. Arkansas has lost 9 straight, and Green put together 2 of his worst games of the season across the past few weeks against LSU and Texas. Green combined to throw 0 touchdowns, 3 interceptions and just 283 passing yards against the Tigers and Longhorns. To make things even worse, Green has thrown for just 1 touchdown and 6 interceptions across his last 5 games.
Green left last week’s game against the Longhorns with a hamstring injury, but was not listed on the SEC injury report leading up to Saturday’s game against the Tigers.
Jackson finished that game against the Longhorns and fared pretty well, considering it was just his 4th appearance as a Razorback against a top 20 team. The freshman quarterback finished with 16 completions for 206 yards and 1 touchdown while rushing for 17 yards and a touchdown.
With that in mind, why not see what Jackson can do against the Tigers? Through the first 5 minutes of the game, Mizzou leads 7-0.
