The Chicago Bears wide receiver reached a notable achievement in the team’s Week 12 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but you might have missed it in what was yet another wild and crazy Sunday at Soldier Field. Moore surpassed the 8,000-yard receiving mark during the win against Pittsburgh. And I love that the Bears social media team had this graphic ready to roll to commemorate the moment:

In fact, the franchise’s all-time receiving leader (Johnny Morris) finished his career in Chicago with 5,059 yards on 356 receptions. For what it’s worth, DJ Moore is inching his way toward the top of the Bears all-time receiving leaderboard. Moore’s 2,815 receiving yards puts him in the franchise’s all-time top-20. Next up: Bobby Engram who put up 2,831 receiving yards during his 62-game career with the Bears from 1996-2000.

Don’t overlook DJ Moore down the stretch
DJ Moore has 36 catches, 485 receiving yards, and 3 touchdowns in 11 games this season. Those numbers put him on a pace for 56 catches, 750 receiving yards, and 5 touchdowns. While those numbers would be disappointing when you consider Moore’s potential and that his résumé has four 1,000+ yard seasons on it, Moore’s 2025 season shouldn’t be judged solely on stats.
This season has seen a more refined Moore, who has been deployed out of the backfield on 26 of the 614 offensive snaps he has played this season. For those of you who don’t have a calculator in front of you, that comes out to 4.2 percent. Last season, Moore saw just 10 total snaps out of the backfield — or 0.9 percent of his total offensive plays.

With that being said, I would not overlook DJ Moore down the stretch. It dawned on me that this is the latest in a given season that Moore has been on a winning team. Moore has 125 games (118 starts) under his belt as a pro from his time with the Bears and Carolina Panthers. However, he has not been on a playoff team. That is a bad beat for such a productive player. And yet, that could change this season. The Bears currently lead the NFC North and control their own destiny as we head into Thanksgiving weekend. That sentence is one I haven’t pondered writing in quite some time, but I digress.

DJ Moore has proven a lot to me this season. He has shown up as a player who can grind, is willing (and able!) to play through injuries, and does not always have to be the primary weapon in the offense. That Moore is part of a collection of receivers who play complimentary football says so much about what Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson is cooking at Halas Hall. What makes this group so dangerous is that anyone can get the ball on any play — and in any way. So don’t get it twisted. I know that Moore’s numbers are down. But that does not mean he is someone defenses can overlook.
