Broncos ILB Alex Singleton cleared to practice, sources say ...Middle East

News by : (The Denver Post) -

Alex Singleton hoped for the fast track.

He appears to be on it.

The Broncos inside linebacker has been cleared to return to practice this week, sources told The Denver Post, meaning he’s likely to be on the field just 18 days after having a cancerous tumor surgically removed from a testicle.

Because the tumor was caught in a very early stage and the surgery proved to be relatively non-invasive, Singleton told reporters Nov. 10 that he hoped to “recover pretty quickly from the surgery and then get up and running here pretty soon.”

Singleton, sources said, has received only good news in subsequent pathology and testing, and he told ABC’s “Good Morning America” in a sit-down interview that aired Tuesday that he’s hoping to play Sunday against Washington.

The first step toward playing against the Commanders is a return to practice this week. The Broncos, winners of eight straight and coming off their bye week, are back on the practice field for their normal work week beginning Wednesday.

That will mark 23 days since he was first diagnosed.

Singleton was flagged for an elevated level of hcG in late October, then diagnosed with testicular cancer on Nov. 3. He played every snap three days later in a Thursday night win against Las Vegas. He had surgery Nov. 8.

Singleton missed Denver’s win Nov. 16 against Kansas City, but spent the week attending every meeting and trying to help fellow inside linebackers Justin Strnad and Dre Greenlaw. Now Singleton is on the path toward returning to the field.
