ROCHESTER, N.Y. — An event aimed at feeding and providing resources to the community will honor the life and mission of Sister Grace Miller.
Sister Grace passed away Thursday at 90 years old. She dedicated her life to caring for Rochester’s homeless community.
On Sunday at the Salvation Army Building on N. Clinton Avenue, Hope Dealers Be The Change (BTC) will be hosting its seventh annual “Hopesgiving,” from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.
The event will start off with a tribute for Sister Grace, led by Board Member and La Madonna Della StradaPresident Mercedes Vazquez-Simmons.
“The dedication of this Hopesgiving event ensures that we are not just mourning her passing, but immediately mobilizing in her spirit to meet the needs of the most vulnerable people she dedicated her life to serving,” said Vazquez-Simmons in a press release.
A free warm Thanksgiving meal will be given out at the event, and people will be able to connect with organizations that offer assistance for housing, healthcare, mental health, addiction recovery, and more.
Organizers say the event is aimed at providing support and resources for those experiencing homelessness, addiction, and poverty.
