"My mother wrote a letter to the Senate, to try and stop his confirmation; my brother had been speaking out against his lies for months," she said of her mother Caroline Kennedy and brother Jack Schlossberg. "I watched from my hospital bed as Bobby, in the face of logic and common sense, was confirmed for the position, despite never having worked in medicine, public health, or the government."

Despite a year-and-a-half of treatment and going into remission several times, Schlossberg has been told by doctors she likely has a year left to live. In her essay, she wrote about being present with her 3-year-old son, 1-year-old daughter, and the rest of her family in the time she has left.
“Mostly, I try to live and be with them now,” she wrote. “But being in the present is harder than it sounds, so I let the memories come and go.”
