ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Thanksgiving is approaching, and local groups are embracing the season of giving.
People’s Choice Kitchen and Service the Community hosted its annual Thanksgiving turkey giveaway for Rochester families on Thursday.
The annual event provided free meals to hundreds of families in need.
“Our communities need hope, and we need a helping hand, and that’s exactly what we get here,” said Donna Smith, a resident. “We get hope, we get a helping hand, and not just at holiday time. I’ve known Van for many years…anybody can come.”
Several local businesses, including Salvatore’s and Wegmans, donated items to make this event possible.
People’s Choice is not the only organization in the community stepping up to help. Several food drives are happening in the Rochester area ahead of Thanksgiving.
