A delegation from Syria’s Planning and Statistics Authority, headed by Chairman Anas Salim, participated in the 12th meeting of the Arab Statistical Initiative, “ARABSTAT,” held in Abu Dhabi under the theme “Understanding and Addressing Data Gaps in Arab Countries.”
In his speech during the two-day meeting, Salim highlighted the statistical data gaps in Syria and presented an analysis of data availability and the main challenges facing the country.
The meeting featured interactive discussions among member states and international institutions on practical solutions to improve data systems, enhance cooperation, and support evidence-based policymaking across the Arab region.
Participants also explored strategies to strengthen human and institutional statistical capacities, improve data quality, and ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Launched by the Arab Monetary Fund, the ArabStat initiative aims to address data gaps and improve statistical mechanisms to support evidence-based development policies in member countries.
