ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Turkey, stuffing, watching football, and time with family may be part of your traditions, but some people have also made running part of their traditions. Here’s your guide to races happening in the Rochester area on Thanksgiving Day.

Webster Turkey Trot

A Webster tradition, the 54th annual Turkey Trot, is returning. The 2.5-mile race and 4.4-mile race will both start at 10 a.m. at the Parkview Lodge of Webster Park. There’s also a virtual race option.

You can register for the race and learn where to pick up your packet here. Participants will be able to take a shuttle bus to the course and all finishers will get a medal.

The race was started by English teacher and cross-country coach Jim May as a practice run for his team but it has since grown to draw thousands of runners each year. Last year, around 3,000 people took part.

Victor Turkey Trot

The Victor Turkey Trot 5K and one-mile fun run is taking place on Thanksgiving morning. The race starts and finishes behind Victor’s Town Hall on 85 East Main St.

Both races start at 9:15 a.m. and you can register here. Runners can pick up their packets on Wednesday, Nov. 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Victor Town Hall. If you can’t make it, the remaining packets will be available on Thanksgiving starting at 7 a.m. at the town hall.

The cost to register is $10 for children and teens and $20 for adults (20 years old and up). Parking will be available at Victor Village Hall and Victor Library. Custom Turkey Trot shirts are available to buy, but aren’t included in the registration price.

Gates Gobble Wobble

The Gobble Wobble 5K run and walk is taking place on Thanksgiving. The race starts at 8:30 a.m. at the back parking lot of Gates Town Hall on 1605 Buffalo Road.

No registration is required. Runners should get there by 8:15 a.m. and are welcome to wear turkey costumes. Participants are asked to bring non-perishable food to donate to the Gates Chili School District Food Cupboard. You can see the flyer on the town’s website here.
