Each November, tnAchieves begins one of its most enduring and impactful traditions — college and career meetings. Over the next several weeks, tnAchieves staff will visit hundreds of high schools across Tennessee to meet with nearly every high school senior in the state. These meetings mark the beginning of each student’s journey with the TN Promise scholarship and, more importantly, the next step in Building Tennessee’s Future Workforce. Serving Students from All Corners of Tennessee tnAchieves is proud to serve students in every corner of Tennessee – both rural and urban. From small towns to the state’s largest cities, the organization’s mission remains the same: to ensure that every Tennessee student has a supported opportunity to pursue and complete a high-quality college degree or credential.
Through TN Promise meetings, tnAchieves connects directly with students in their own high school auditoriums, gyms and cafeterias. Each meeting reinforces that every student — regardless of zip code or background — has a place in college in Tennessee. This year, more than 67,000 high school seniors applied for the TN Promise scholarship. With 84.7% of tnAchieves students living and working in Tennessee after college graduation, these students are the future backbone of the state’s thriving economy. Preparing the Next Generation of Tennessee’s Workforce TN Promise meetings serve as both an informational and motivational launch point for the Class of 2026. These sessions allow staff to explain how the TN Promise program works — including completing the application, filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and meeting the community service obligation — while also encouraging students to view college as a pathway to meaningful careers and economic independence. “TN Promise meetings are more than presentations — they give our team an opportunity to have in-person conversations with students across the state, at scale,” said Ben Sterling,
Chief Content Officer at tnAchieves and a tnAchieves graduate. “These meetings inspire students to see themselves as college material who will one day graduate to become nurses, engineers, educators, welders, pipefitters, entrepreneurs and more who will strengthen their communities and our economy. That is the essence of Building Tennessee’s Future Workforce.” A Statewide Effort Backed by Community Support Each year, tnAchieves staff travel thousands of miles, crisscrossing the state, to ensure every eligible Tennessee student receives the information and encouragement needed to take the next step toward their future. This work is made possible through the continued partnership of donors, mentors and community organizations who believe every student deserves a pathway to prosperity. About tnAchieves tnAchieves is a privately funded, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that partners with the State of Tennessee to administer the TN Promise scholarship.
