Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Paris Olympian Malak Tawfik has verbally committed to the University of California as a part of the Golden Bears’ women’s 2026 recruiting class.

Tawfik hails from Cairo, Egypt, where she represented her home country at the 2024 Olympic Games. In Paris, she finished 28th in the women’s 10-meter platform event with a score of 193.75, competing as the youngest in the field at 16.

Both her 1-meter and 3-meter lifetime bests came at the World Junior Diving Championships in 2022. On 1-meter, she finished 27th with a score of 230.35. Her 3-meter result was similar, finishing 28th in a score of 198.30.

Tawfik also competed at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships in Doha. There, she competed in the 10-meter platform event, finishing 42nd overall with a score of 175.65.

Cal was the home to another Egyptian Olympian, Farida Osman, who represented Egypt at the 2016 Rio Olympics in both the 50 free and 100 fly. There, she finished 18th in the 50 free (24.91) and 10th in the 100 fly (57.83), setting African Records in both races. Four years earlier, she was the lone Egyptian female swimmer to compete in London, where she placed 41st in the 50 free, clocking 26.34.

Tawfik’s Best Scores:

1-Meter: 230.35 3-Meter: 198.30 10-Meter Platform: 193.75

The Cal women finished 4th at the 2025 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships and 8th at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships last season.

Cal’s highest-scoring ACC Championships diver a season ago was freshman Violet Williamson, finishing 20th in the 1-meter (237.10) and 21st in the 3-meter (264.90).

Williamson was also the only Golden Bear female diver at NCAAs last season, but didn’t reach scoring range, finishing 43rd on both 1-meter and 3-meter.

Tawfik has competed at the highest possible level, and that experience could play a factor in Cal moving up into the top three in the ACC.

Tawfik joins Isabel Wolk, Halle West, Kelsey Zhang, Ava De Anda, Kassy Yeung, and Egle Salu in Cal’s 2026 recruiting class.
