For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Valparaiso Swim Club’s Maddie Moreth has committed to the University of Florida for the 2026-2027 season.
I am so grateful and excited to announce my verbal commitment to pursue both my academic and swimming goals at the University of Florida! Thank you to my family, teammates, and coaches for all of your continued support! Thank you to Coach Nesty and the rest of the team for this incredible opportunity! Go Gators!!!
Moreth closed out her summer in golden fashion, winning the 100 breaststroke at the Speedo Junior National Championships. Moreth clocked 1:09.23 to earn the victory with a lifetime best, and she also came away with a 3rd-place finish in the 50 breast, clocking 31.91 in the final after setting a PB of 31.88 in the prelims.
Moreth hails from Valparaiso, Ind., and represents Valparaiso High School. As a junior, Moreth won the Indiana High School state title in February in the 100 breast, where she clocked 1:00.58, which was a personal best at the time.
She later bested that time the following month at the Indiana Swimming Senior Championships, notching lifetime bests in both the 100 breast (1:00.51) and 200 breast (2:11.93).
Moreth also holds a noteworthy 200 IM best time of 2:06.86. She set that at the IHSAA Girls Sectional in Hobart in February.
Best Times SCY:
50 Breast: 28.35 100 Breast: 1:00.51 200 Breast: 2:11.93 200 IM: 2:06.86The Florida women finished as runners-up to Texas at the 2025 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships a season ago.
Based on Moreth’s best times, she would have qualified for the consolation final in the 100 breast, the ‘C’ final in the 200 breast, and 63rd in the 200 IM.
Moreth’s current best time sits just over two tenths off the 2025 NCAA qualifying time for the 100 breast at 1:00.30, showing that she could come into Gainesville and immediately be a championship contender in both the conference and national stages.
Just looking at the Gators’ top 100 breast times from a season ago, Moreth would have been 3rd on that roster. The two above her are current sophomoreAnita Bottazzo and current junior Molly Mayne.
Head Coach Anthony Nesty has fortified his Gators’ breaststroke group for years to come with the addition of Moreth.
The breaststroke is at an elite level for Moreth, but that third event does not look to be very near a scoring spot. Moreth will look to not only work to build her breaststroke, but also toy around with some other potential third event suitors.
Moreth joins Bomin Kim, Valentina Procaccini, and Lillie McPherson in the Gators’ loaded 2026 recruiting class.
