ROCHESTER, N.Y. – It is a brief return to winter conditions for the start of the week as gusty winds and unseasonably cold temperatures will dominate the area for the next 24 hours.
The News10NBC First Alert meteorologists anticipate it will be cold enough for “off and on” Lake Ontario snow showers into Monday morning. However, for most communities this will be a relatively small amount of snowfall, but probably just enough snow to make untreated roads, bridges and overpasses icy. Expect conditions to vary with brief periods of poor visibility. The recommendation is to leave extra time for travel for Monday morning.
Accumulation should be limited to a coating to an inch for tonight with another coating to an inch for Monday morning. Then on Monday afternoon and evening the snow showers should begin to move east of Rochester with conditions improving through the remainder of the day. We expect the temperatures will fall to the lower 30s tonight and climb into the middle to upper 30s for Monday. As a result, there is a News10NBC yellow alert for tonight and into Monday morning.
