ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Neighbors near Culver Road and Meredith Street are continuing to deal with the aftermath of a water main break that occurred four days ago. The break caused major flooding in multiple homes in the area, leaving residents frustrated and seeking answers.

The 100-year-old pipe burst, releasing about 2 million gallons of water into the streets, officials said. Residents like Ira Brunson expressed frustration over the lack of communication from the city.

“No notification was sent out. Nothing was sent out. There was no communication as far as for me as a neighbor,” Brunson said.

Brunson also faced additional issues when the water was turned back on, causing further damage to her home.

“There’s valves at each house that you’re supposed to shut off. When you clear the main water line. They didn’t shut that off, so when they cleared it, guess what? Poof. All the wood, other things clogged up my. I just paid for it yesterday. $2,000 for me to fix,” Brunson said.

Culver Road remains partly closed as crews continue repair work.
