A Coby White return is officially on the horizon for the Chicago Bulls.
The guard practiced fully with the team for the first time this regular season, according to multiple reporters. The development comes only a handful of days after White was assigned to the G League with rookie Noa Essengue to participate in practice with the Windy City Bulls. While he did attempt to do on-court work with the team in the lead-up to opening night, returning tightness in his calf prompted the Bulls to slam on the brakes.
Indeed, with Achilles injuries seemingly on the rise around the NBA, players and teams alike have been extra cautious when rehabbing calf injuries. Likewise, Coby White entered the 2025-26 campaign in a contract year, making a push for an early return feel all the more risky. This is also why it will be important to track how the training staff manages his return to the rotation in the coming days. While their schedule will not look nearly as daunting as the past week, they are still staring at an exhausting five games in seven days.
The Bulls start things with a back-to-back against Utah and Denver on Sunday and Monday. Then, after a one-day break, they will be in Portland to face a frisky Trail Blazers team. Things will wrap up with another back-to-back on Friday and Saturday at the United Center against the Heat and Wizards. Even if White is given the green light to play in Sunday night’s first meeting, it feels highly unlikely the Bulls would allow him to play in any back-to-backs this quickly. I’d also certainly expect him to be on a tight minutes restriction in the games he does appear in.
For what it’s worth, Will Gottlieb of CHGO shared that Billy Donovan and Coby White both suggested that they will be very careful with White’s playing time upon his return.
Both Josh Giddey and Coby White went through practice in full today. Team will evaluate how they came out of it tomorrow.Billy sounds optimistic that Coby will be back this week. He will be on a minutes limit (probably 20-24). Coby said he wants to try to play 3 of the 5 games
— Will Gottlieb (@Will_Gottlieb) November 14, 2025Regardless, having White back in the mix should be a huge win for the Chicago Bulls. For as strong as this team started the year, their recent four-game skid has demonstrated how much this group needs White’s versatile scoring ability. Particularly in tight games down the stretch, the Bulls have looked lost at times offensively. White is the most talented bucket-getter on this roster and can immediately step in as an on-ball crunch-time threat.
Chicago Bulls Also on Verge of Josh Giddey Return
Josh Giddey was listed as questionable on the official injury report ahead of the Chicago Bulls’ previous two games. The team decided to hold him out of both contests, meaning he has now been sidelined since last Saturday’s meeting with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Giddey has been arguably the biggest motivator of the Bulls’ hot start, averaging a near triple-double with 21.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 9.3 assists per game.
Giddey also practiced in full on Friday, per Gottlieb, and the hope is that he can rejoin the starting lineup against Utah. The Bulls finished 15-5 last season with Giddey and White leading the way, making this looming return a highly anticipated one.
