As the iconic stunt performer and actor Johnny Knoxville has been known to say, “Welcome to Jackass!”
For this weekend only, a “Jackass” art show is coming to Los Angeles to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the iconic franchise at the Complex gallery on Fairfax Avenue from Friday, Nov. 14 through Sunday, Nov. 16. Hosted by Complex LA, the pop-up is free and open to the public.
“In honor of our 25th anniversary, we’re gonna have ourselves a good old-fashioned art show,” Knoxville posted on Instagram. “Jackass cast members, select crew, and some pretty unbelievable artists are contributing amazing Jackass inspired artworks. Can’t believe some of the people we have in the show. So grateful. Heck yeah!!!”
The event promises to “celebrate 25 years of the infamous franchise — commemorating a quarter-century of absurd innovation, cartoonish creativity, and cultural influence.”
According to a press release, “The exhibition captures the energy, identity, and impact that Jackass has smeared over the last few decades, offering both longtime followers and new audiences a dynamic look at art shaped by its enduring spirit of having fun with your buddies.” The show features work from more than 40 artists, including John Waters, Steve-O, Spike Jonze, and Knoxville, all inspired by the brand’s “legacy of stupidity.”
“Can’t believe all the artists that stepped forward to be a part of this and the wonderful art they created,” Knoxville wrote in an Instagram post on Friday, Nov. 14. “So much great stuff that we had to rent the space next door. Here is a sneak peek pic of just half of the show, which is up from Nov 14th to 16th. So excited, humbled and grateful.”
