2025 Alaska School Activities Association State Championships
Nov. 7-8, 2025 Anchorage, Alaska SCY (25 yards) ResultsIt was a sweet repeat for the Eagle River girls, and a hard-fought title for the West Valley boys at the Alaska Activities Association state championships.
Eagle River was 15 points ahead of runner-up Juneau Douglas, while West Valley was six points ahead of runner-up Colony in the boys event, where only 11 points separated the top-five finishers.

The meet started off with a state record courtesy of the Juneau Douglas 200 medley relay team of Valerie Peimann, Kennedy Miller, Amy Liddle and Lily Francis.
The quartet clocked a time of 1:46.03, which broke the state record of 1:46.75 set by Douglas in 2015.
Peimann started with a split of 26.54, Miller followed with a 30.55, Liddle swam a 25.31 and then Francis finished with a 23.63.
Douglas also won the 400 free relay in a time of 3:35.63 behind the team of Liddle, Francis, Kaelyn Szefler and Peimann.
Eagle River won the 200 free relay, with the team of Reese Woodward, Keira Gust, Anna Heaphy and Sophia Trembath clocking a time of 1:37.51.
The individual stars were Peimann, Woodward and Eagle River junior Lelaina Trembath.
In addition to being a part of Douglas’ two winning relay teams, Peimann won the 100 free (52.26) and the 100 breast (1:04.85), both in personal best times. She was named the Outstanding Female Competitor of the meet. “The amount of work and hours I put into swim isn’t always noticed, and getting that recognition at the state level is awesome,” Peimann said to the Juneau Independent. “I’ve never done this well at a state meet and ending my high school career with an award like that is priceless.”
Woodward, a senior, captured the 200 IM (2:06.02) and the 100 fly (55.74), while Trembath won the 200 free (1:54.68) and 500 free in a personal best time of 5:05.50.
The other individual winners were Francis in the 50 free (24.31), Service senior Kensley Denmon in 1-meter diving (458.25) and Gust in the 100 back (58.43).

The points were certainly spread out among the teams, with the 69 points earned by West Valley being just enough to earn the title.
A state record was set in the 200 free by Chugiak senior Blake Fazio, who swam a personal best time of 1:39.44 to break the old record (1:39.78) set in 2016 by Kodiak’s Talon Lindquist. It was Fazio’s first time under the 1:40 barrier, with his previous best sitting at 1:40.43 from this past April’s Alaskan State Championships.
“I give all the credit to my mom,” Fazio said to the Anchorage Daily News. “She said, go out there and have fun. I didn’t think about anyone else in my race. I just thought about myself and trusted my training.”
West Valley won just one event, and that was in the 200 medley relay when the team of Quenton Rodgers, Cedar Robichaud, Zen Schaetzle and Haoran Zhang combined for a time of 1:35.44.
The 200 free relay was won by Dimond’s squad of Clint Kopp, Creed Cvancara, Andy Zhang, and Dax O’Brien in a time of 1:27.08, while Sitka’s quartet of Tommy McCarthy, James Nellis, Zach Martens and Corin Collier won the 400 free relay in a time of 3:12.86.
Fazio was the only multiple-event winner, winning the 100 fly in a personal best time of 49.79 in addition to his record-breaking performance in the 200 free.
Other individual winners were:
Eagle River junior Nate Shockley took the 200 IM in a time of 1:58.24. Kopp captured the 50 free in a personal best time of 20.58. Service senior Reubin Williams won the 1-meter diving event with 445.35 points. Petersburg senior Logan Tow was first in the 100 free with a personal best time of 46.54. Kodiak senior Cody Hubert won the 500 free, clocking a personal best time of 4:40.90. Beck Laboucane, a sophomore from Colony, swam a personal best time of 52.55 to win the 100 back. Ketchikan senior Evan Dash captured the 100 breast in a time of 59.30.Boys Team Standings — Top 5
