ROCHESTER, N.Y. – We’re back to Green on the Threat Tracker as temperatures rise above freezing, ending any snow or ice from forming on the roads. There are still going to be some flakes falling this morning, but no accumulation is expected and soon that snow will turn to rain which will continue through the A.M. hours before turning into off and on rain showers for the afternoon and evening. It will be cool and breezy as well today, with highs in the low 40s and westerly wind gusts 20-30 MPH.
Tonight will be cold and cloudy again with lake effect rain showers, but it should stay above freezing and so no ice is expected on the roads tomorrow morning. Unfortunately the cloud cover means we will miss out on the aurora borealis once again, which will be visible in northern parts of the country tonight.
Thursday and Friday remain unsettled but slightly warmer with chances for rain showers and highs in the low to mid 40s. This weekend isn’t looking great either, with widespread late evening rain expected on Saturday and scattered rain showers on Sunday. Again it’ll be slightly warmer, with highs in the mid to upper 40s both days. Monday the temperature drops to the upper 30s and lake effect snow showers are once again possible into Tuesday.
