Trump’s pardon proclamation says it “ends a grave national injustice perpetrated upon the American people following the 2020 presidential election and continues the process of national reconciliation.”
Meadows and Powell are not accused of any federal crimes, rendering the pardons largely symbolic. They were both indicted as part of the Georgia investigation into the electoral scheme, which is still pending in state court.
