Winter weather warnings and advisories continue across the Chicago area as a heavy band of lake effect snow dumped more than a foot in some locations and left others with little to none.
The storm made for hazardous travel conditions and additional accumulations are still possible.
According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm warning was in effect until 9 a.m. for Lake and Kankakee counties in Illinois, and Porter, Northern LaPorte and Porter Counties in Indiana.
In DuPage, Cook and Will Counties in Illinois, Kenosha County in Wisconsin and Newton and Dubois Counties in Indiana, there was a winter weather advisory until 12 p.m.
“Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches with storm total snowfall of 2 to 4 inches expected,” the NWS said, of those parts.
