Opta Analyst’s FCS football coverage includes weekly national player and team honors throughout the regular season and will lead toward the annual season-ending Stats Perform FCS National Awards Show on Jan. 3, 2026 in Nashville, Tennessee. 

Villanova’s Ja’briel Mace, South Carolina State’s Jarod Washington, North Dakota State’s Aaron Bickerton and Chattanooga’s Battle Alberson were selected on Monday as the Stats Perform FCS National Players of the Week for Week 11 college football games this past weekend.

In addition, the Davidson Wildcats were named the Stats Perform FCS National Team of the Week.

The weekly honors lead up to the Stats Perform FCS National Awards Show on Jan. 3 in Nashville, Tennessee. The season-ending awards are in their 39th year.

The five honorees plus honorable mention selections for the FCS football awards:

FCS National Offensive Player of the Week

Ja’briel Mace, Villanova, RB, R-So., 5-9, 175

Mace eclipsed the legendary Brian Westbrook’s school record for rushing yards in a game with 291 and scored all four Villanova touchdowns in the Wildcats’ 28-10 win at Towson. He entered the CAA Football game with 359 rushing yards in 26 career games, but carried the ball 28 times and scored from 8, 39, 82 and 22 yards out. His rushing total and all-purpose yards (315, adding in a 24-yard kickoff return) were the second most in an FCS game this season.

FCS National Defensive Player of the Week

Jarod Washington, South Carolina State, DB, Sr., 6-2, 188

The only FCS player with six passes defended in a game this season has done it twice. This time, Washington added in two touchdowns as South Carolina State defeated Howard 42-12 in the MEAC. He had a 27-yard pick-six in the first quarter and returned a blocked field goal 56 yards for a score on the final play of the first half. Washington broke up five passes and finished with four solo tackles.

FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week

Aaron Bickerton, North Dakota State, P, R-Jr., 6-3, 201

In unbeaten North Dakota State’s closest game of the season, Bickerton was a difference-maker, helping the Bison to a 15-10 win at North Dakota in the MVFC. On a season-high five punts, he averaged 55.6 yards, second-highest in the FCS this season and the fourth-highest average in over nine years. His punts went for 64, 62, 55, 52 and 45 yards. Bickerton also was the holder on three successful field goals before NDSU took its first lead with 2:22 remaining.

FCS National Freshman Player of the Week

Battle Alberson, Chattanooga, QB, R-Fr., 6-2, 204

In his first career start, Alberson set Chattanooga’s freshman record for total offense with 362 yards and passed for touchdowns to four different receivers in a 45-28 win over Furman. He was 15 for 22 for 277 yards with a 233.9 passer rating, and carried the ball seven times for 85 yards, with a long of 31 yards. The Mocs evened their record at 5-5 and are 4-2 in the Southern Conference.

FCS National Team of the Week

Davidson (14-13 win over Presbyterian)

Presbyterian posted one of the season’s bigger upset wins versus Mercer, but suffered one against rival Davidson, which entered 1-8 and 0-5 in the Pioneer Football League. Coulter Cleland threw first-quarter touchdowns to Langston Green and Mason Sheron, and the Wildcats made the lead stand up, limiting then-No. 25 PC to 69 passing yards (194 below its pregame average). As first-year coach Saj Thakker’s squad retained the 1919 Cup, Mikah Kent had nine tackles, including a sack and another TFL, and forced a fumble.

Honorable Mention: Mercer (49-47 win at Western Carolina); New Hampshire (34-13 win at Monmouth); Southern Utah (27-17 win at Eastern Kentucky)
